A collection of Audiobooks
Below is a collection of audio books you may enjoy exploring this year. They have been selected for this page based on the recommendations of your class mates and teachers. If you have a book you'd like to see added, please contact PM.
Why audio books?
The best way to use audio books is to read along with them. Try finding a book at the library or in a book store that you're interested in reading, then jump online or look below to see if you can find a good quality audio book file to accompany the text.
By reading along with the audiobook, you'll hear different readers pronouncing each of the words in the story, and hopefully using their dramas skills to bring the story to life. This will help you:
a) Make sense of the story if the language becomes challenging (most people understand more spoken words than they can read at first).
b) Decode and learn how to pronounce new vocabulary. Just pause and repeat the recording to hear how the letters combine to make the sounds in that word.
c) Develop your own expressive reading and voice acting skills.
If you are new to English you may also like to use the online dictionary for kids below to help you find out the meaning of any new words as you read. There's also included a link to Google Translate, for learners who are new to English, so that you can define new words in your other language.
Enjoy!
