Learning about Learning
In this unit of work we'll be exploring topics such as:
How does my memory work, and can I make it work better?
Is my Mum right, should I avoid doing school work in front of the television? and,
What kind of classroom environment helps me to concentrate best?
Just to break tradition, let's begin at the end.
Have you ever wondered why your teacher sometimes asks your class to complete an activity silently? (Hint: It's not only because I'm mean! :) )
Is your teacher right, does classroom chatter really have an impact on your concentration?
If some things can have a - negative - impact on our concentration, are there things we can do which create a + positive + impact? What are they?
This investigation will be the first in our 'Learning about Learning' study. One of our goals will be to think about how we can establish the best possible learning community within our classroom. How can we build an environment that best suits us and our style of learning?
To find out, we're going to conduct some fun classroom experiments, and see what they tell us about us.
Keen to get started? Speak to your teacher about joining SPARK.
In the meantime, here's a game you can try to put your memory to the test. Go on. Give it a go!
